What this deck covers

What this deck teaches
- Count plus character plus growth. A thriving child with mild viral illnesses needs no tests, however many there are.
- Three signs discriminate. Family history, intravenous-antibiotic infections, failure to thrive – any one justifies testing.
- The pattern names the defect. Sinopulmonary bacteria – antibody. Fungi and viruses – T cells. Abscesses – phagocytes. Neisseria – complement.
- Start with the cheap tests. A blood count someone actually reads, and immunoglobulins against age-matched ranges.
- The slope, not the level. A rising infant IgG is benign; a flat one is disease.
- Absent tonsils is a lymphocyte result. So is the thymic shadow on a newborn film – both are visible without a laboratory.
