Across the fifty cases you are asked to choose between options such as: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Exercise treadmill stress testing, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, No extra checks while her lupus is quiet, Pneumoperitoneum, Obstructive shock, Cardiac tamponade, A vasoconstrictor alone, such as noradrenaline, Restrictive cardiomyopathy, Start amlodipine straight away, Lifelong oral amiodarone therapy, Stop all exercise, including walking, Propofol infusion, Aortic dissection.

Clinical pearls from this deck

  • A murmur that gets louder on standing is obstruction you make worse by emptying the ventricle.
  • Every hypertensive child needs a leg pressure and a feel of the femoral pulses.
  • Tamponade is drained, not diuresed or ventilated.
  • Fibrosis lights up on MRI before the ejection fraction falls.
  • A fetal cardiac rhabdomyoma is often the first sign of tuberous sclerosis.
  • Known family variant: test the child for that variant.

Work through the deck once for recognition, then again a week later to test yourself — each question gives the answer and explains why every other option fails.
