Clinical pearls from this deck

  • Runs stiffly, stairs with a hand held, feeds a doll, points to body parts: 18 months.
  • Strangers understand: half at 2, three-quarters at 3, nearly all at 4.
  • Words and pretend play are both symbols: a delay in one flags the other.
  • Stammer over 6 months, late onset, struggle or distress: refer to speech and language therapy.
  • Tricycle, circle, full name, age and sex: 3 years.
  • Coo by 2-3 months, babble by 6, “mama” and “dada” by 9, words with meaning by 12.

Work through the deck once for recognition, then again a week later to test yourself — each question gives the answer and explains why every other option fails.
