Clinical pearls from this deck

  • Snuffles plus a peeling palm-and-sole rash in an infant: check the mother’s antenatal screening.
  • Read a child’s white count against the range for age, never the adult one.
  • A young infant may not whoop; she may just stop breathing.
  • Under 3 months, 38 °C or more is red: screen and treat as high risk.
  • Sepsis is now defined by organ dysfunction, not by the white count.
  • Node for weeks, kitten at home, papule upstream: cat-scratch disease.

Work through the deck once for recognition, then again a week later to test yourself — each question gives the answer and explains why every other option fails.
