What this deck covers

What this deck teaches
- Earn the diagnosis first. Bilious vomiting, blood with pain, distension – the red flags take gastroenteritis away.
- Grade from behaviour. Sensorium and drinking, then the physical signs – read the worst column touched.
- The mouth is the route. Moderate dehydration: ORS about 75 ml/kg over 4 hours, little and often.
- One dose buys a second chance. Ondansetron once, then restart the syringe – the cannula waits behind it.
- Shock is treated in minutes. 20 ml/kg isotonic, IV or IO – bloods travel with the bolus, not ahead of it.
- Salty brains shrink slowly. Hypernatraemia corrects over 48 hours – sodium falls under 0.5 mmol/L per hour.
